Vehicles get better model year to model year and content varies. Customers expect this as innovations. At OnStar, we strive towards a seamless drive and user experience. Across insights gathered from customers and dealers, we have found that a long-term package better suits the interest of our drivers and offer high appeal, value-add and convenience. Hence, we are reframing our approach accordingly. We will continue to assess the best routes to market based on consumer and dealer feedback and incorporate this thinking into our packages.
The current offering applicable to 2025 model year vehicles only at this time. Existing OnStar Members will be able to retain their current plans.
We do not have updates on future plans to share at this time. However, our strategy will continue to be guided by customer and insights on a product basis.
Members can choose from the available plans. Members can choose the bundle option to enjoy both convenience and safety or save even more with annual plans that provide 12 months for the price of 10.
The plans are currently included in most model year 2025 vehicles. Customers who do not want to use the connected services may decline the OnStar Terms and Conditions or not enroll with OnStar.
Customers who would like to upgrade their services from Connect plan and add the Protect plan, can purchase a monthly subscription of the OnStar Protect Plan.
The activation process remains the same. The customer can receive an email invite from their respective Dealer during the sales process or press the OnStar Blue Button in their vehicle to speak to an Advisor for an invite. Once received, through a simple online onboarding process, the customer must agree to the Terms and Conditions and Privacy statement to activate their plan.
Customers will be able to select from the OnStar monthly subscription options or annual plans. They will not be automatically enrolled into a new plan.
Every subscription is linked to a specific vehicle. If a Member buys a new vehicle, then they will need to accept our terms and conditions again to activate the new vehicle. Regarding their older vehicle, the Member must remember to offboard the vehicle if no longer in use. If there was an OnStar plan on that vehicle it can be cancelled, and the refund is pro-rated.
If a customer sells their 2025 model vehicle after a year, the remaining duration of the connected services will transfer to the new owner.
The Wi-fi trial in UAE and KUW is for 3GB or 90 days (whichever comes first). Post the trial, Members can choose to purchase Wi-Fi plans on a monthly basis that run out based on data or time. Wi-Fi plans are not automatically renewed at the moment.
